The pain

The idea frames manual coding as the problem, but developers already choose automation when it saves time. The actual pain point, developers *wanting* to write code manually, doesn't exist at scale. Developers complain about repetitive work, not about having too many shortcuts.

The gap

The gap here is between the idea's premise and reality. Modern tools like GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, and code generators exist because developers demanded them. There's no market demand for friction. The idea inverts the actual customer need: developers want *less* manual work, not more.

Build angle

If this were reframed as a learning tool for junior developers to build fundamentals before using AI, it could have merit, but that's a different business (coding bootcamp, not a tool). As stated, there's no angle that makes this viable.
