Guys please recommend any apps for mass renaming files?
hi! I’m currently dealing with a huge files that need to be renamed and doing it manually is taking forever, I need it done by Saturday I’m looking for an app or tool that can mass/batch rename files ideally something where I can rename hundreds of files at once. Preferably something simple to use and reliable since I don’t want to accidentally mess up the files. Any recommendations would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Strengths
- Extremely clear and painful problem with high urgency.
- Strong demand for intelligent, automated solutions, explicitly for simplicity and reliability.
- Clear evidence of willingness to pay for effective solutions (competitors charge $50-$99/month or one-time fees).
- No funded competitors or Big Tech presence, low incumbent strength.
- Specific complaints about existing tools provide a clear roadmap for differentiation (complexity, no content analysis, cloud dependency, file limits).
- Market trend towards AI-powered file organization.
Risks
- Implementing local AI for robust content analysis while keeping it lightweight and fast can be technically challenging for a solo builder.
- Achieving 'simple to use' with powerful features is a significant UX challenge.
- Marketing and distribution might require targeting specific niches initially to gain traction.
- Educating users on the benefits of AI-powered renaming over traditional methods.
Next steps
- Conduct in-depth user interviews with specific personas (e.g., academic researchers, photographers) to validate desired AI renaming rules and confirm pain points.
- Prototype a simple UI for a core AI renaming feature (e.g., rename PDFs by title) to test user understanding and workflow.
- Research local AI libraries/models for content analysis (e.g., OCR, image recognition) to assess feasibility and performance for a solo builder's MVP.

One-Person Business
Curiosity pull, identity fit, and a path from free value to paid for a solo creator.
A highly clear problem with strong monetization and niche potential, demanding a focus on simplicity for solo builder success.
Viral Frameworks
Hook strength, shareability, and how cheaply it can be tested.
A strong micro-SaaS candidate with a clear audience, valuable proposition, and proven business models, requiring refinement of the AI-powered 'simple' offering.
Builder Lens
Evidence the problem exists, timing, defensibility, and a model that fits on a napkin.
This idea addresses a clear, painful problem with a strong desire for an intelligent, simple solution, making it highly attractive.

I raised $130M for my last startup, then walked away to build Base44 solo. In 6 months: $3.5M ARR, 300K+ users, no employees, fully bootstrapped. Then acquired by Wix for $80M. AMA. (Also giving away $3K in subscriptions.)

Market signals
The file management tools market, which includes file renaming, is a niche but essential component of broader productivity and document management. While overall funding in 'File Management Tools' saw a 74.02% drop in 2024 compared to 2023, there's a clear trend towards AI-powered solutions. Recent launches on Product Hunt and blog posts highlight the emergence of AI-driven file renaming, indicating a growing interest in more intelligent and automated solutions for file organization.
What frustrates people
- Users find the interface of traditional tools like Bulk Rename Utility intimidating and complex, requiring a significant learning curve.
- Traditional file renamers cannot read file contents, only filenames and technical metadata, limiting their ability to create truly descriptive names.
- The need for advanced features like regular expressions and JavaScript in some tools makes them less accessible for non-technical users.
- Cloud-based processing in some AI tools is not ideal for organizations requiring fully offline solutions due to privacy or connectivity concerns.
- Monthly file limits in subscription-based AI tools can be quickly hit by heavy users, necessitating higher and more expensive tiers.

No easy way to hide Instagram stories from specific groups like coworkers
Instagram lacks a reverse 'close friends' feature to quickly hide stories from select people (e.g., colleagues) without hiding from everyone.
Productivity
Manual document processing creates bottlenecks in business workflows
Businesses waste time manually extracting data from invoices, contracts, forms and other documents. This creates delays and errors in workflows that depend on this information.
