How to get started in electronic music

I've been interested in learning how to make electronic music (e.g. Geometry dash, Undertale, Daft Punk, C418), but there doesn't seem to be any real documentation or tutorials on how to start. To summarize my question: a.) What are the first 3 steps (or more) to learn to compose music? b.) Any links, resources etc. to share? Thanks for your time and interest.

Trend

No signal yet

A beginner's guide/course platform for electronic music production targeting aspiring composers with no prior experience.

The pain

Aspiring electronic music producers face fragmented, scattered learning resources and unclear entry points for getting started with composition and production tools.

The gap

While abundant tutorials exist, there's no cohesive, structured curriculum that clearly maps the first steps from zero knowledge to creating recognizable electronic music in popular styles (chiptune, ambient, EDM).

Build angle

Create a structured, project-based course or interactive guide that teaches electronic music fundamentals through recreating iconic tracks (Undertale, Daft Punk) with clear tool recommendations and step-by-step progression.

Strengths

  • Clear, validated pain point with passionate audience (gaming/music communities overlap)
  • Specific reference points (Geometry Dash, Undertale) indicate concrete learning goals
  • Growing creator economy + music production tools democratization creates tailwinds
  • Potential for community-driven content and peer learning

Risks

  • Massive existing competition (Splice, Skillshare, YouTube tutorials, DAW native education)
  • Unclear monetization, education market is crowded and price-sensitive
  • Requires deep music theory + production expertise to create quality content
  • High churn risk; music production has steep learning curve and low completion rates
  • This reads as a question, not a validated business idea, no evidence of founder commitment or market validation
  • Niche audience (electronic music) limits TAM compared to broader music education
